Input Controls can Help

Currently the Mindoro tuna fishery is being fished sustainably1. This is expected to change as increasing global demand leads to increased profits, inducing overfishing2.

If the Mindoro tuna fishery were to adopt input controls (e.g. limiting the number of boats that are allowed to fish), the current level of fishing could be maintained, creating much better long term outcomes for both the fish stock and for the fishing community. If input controls are adopted by themselves, however, middlemen and exporters see profits decline.

Try limiting the number of boats (by selecting Max Entry)
